Benjamin raced Thursday night in troop 333 (Rosedale Ward's troop). There were 18 entries total, racing 2 cars at a time. Benjamin went undefeated to the finals when he went head to head with Joseph Reno's very well built and detailed car for the second time. They tied this time (too close to call). They switched lanes and Reno's car won. Then the 3rd and final race ended with a win for Reno. So Benjamin got 2ND place overall. Benjamin was less interested in placing than getting the races over with so he could finally just play with the car. Benjamin also got a certificate for 'Most Patriotic' car. The other scouts would chant "USA, USA, USA..." every time his car raced, it was fun!
Jack raced Saturday afternoon in troop 25 (mostly kids from his school). They had a brand new aluminum track with electronic start and finish, all computerized with finishes timed to 1/1000th of a second. There were approximately 35 scout entries plus another 15-20 "open class" entries. Jack placed 2ND in the Tiger Pack, by just a small margin. They then raced the top 10 finishers at the end and Jack placed 2ND overall with the same car from the Tiger Pack just barely edging him out again.
CONGRATULATIONS to both Benjamin and Jack for their 2nd place finishes in their 1st year of racing!! Next year we'll be faster.

and you are not a bit competitive are you? "next year we'll be faster." love it!
Fun! But like Benjamin, I'd rather just play with the cool painted car!
I think I am going to hire your husband to build our car next year!
Wow, what a blast! I can't wait for scouts only two more years! Time sure flies, before you know it they will be on missions and getting married!
